Why should you get your image files retouched?

Buying an image file is great, but it’s like buying the raw ingredients from a chef. To really see the full vision of the chef, you need to let him prepare the meal. At Ellen LeRoy Photography, we don’t just want to be your “grocery store.”  We want to prepare an exquisite meal for you to enjoy!

Half of our artistic skill set and training is in post-production artwork. If you are wanting to create an image for your wall that you will look at year after year, why not give it a little extra love and let us retouch it for you? We can take out the distractions that keep the image from looking ideal and make sure the viewer is seeing your beautiful family, not the sunburn lines or bruises on your children’s legs.  Unlike a fancy meal, this is an investment in your memories that will last a lifetime.

When you choose to have an image retouched, you will work with our retouching artist to make sure your image looks beautiful while still feeling natural. You will have the final approval, and we guarantee your satisfaction or we will refund your money.

Take a look below at some of the retouching we’ve done for families like yours.

In this image, we switched the dog from a different image so that everyone was looking at the camera.  We cleaned up sunburn, skin, and hair.  We removed the stripe from the boy’s shirt to remove the visual distraction.

For this image, we took the person out of the background.  We removed distracting wrinkles in the dresses and cleaned up the water spots.  The mother wanted us to leave the shorts showing on the older girl, but those could have been removed as well.

This image is adorable, but look how much more artistic it looks when we clean up the skin and remove the person from the background.

The wind caught this lady’s dress, and she asked if we could make her belly look smaller.  We also cleaned up the skin and whitened her teeth.

Most of us have areas of our bodies that we are self-conscious about, but those areas can be mitigated in Photoshop, so don’t let that stop you from being part of your family pictures.  Your family loves you just the way you are, but we’ll make sure you love you, too!

How much does retouching cost?

Retouching can vary depending on the level of difficulty and the time required to make the change.  In general, the going rate for retouching is about $75 per hour.  However, most pictures only require a small portion of an hour to complete.  To make things simple, we offer basic retouching for $7 per image.  Advanced retouching is $19 per image.  Images that are very complicated may be more.  We offer a quote based on your specific requests before we start any job so that you know what to expect.

Will you retouch another photographer's images for me?

I would be happy to retouch images that are not mine.  However, please check the contract you have with your photographer to make sure there are no restrictions about altering an image.  If so, you will need your photographer’s permission.

  • Do we see the images before making a decision on the retouching options? Or do we need to make that decision prior?
