Ellen LeRoy Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!

Ellen LeRoy Photography is located on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina in the town of Emerald Isle.  We started as a family portraiture business, specializing in beach sessions.  In the last few years, the wedding portion of the business has really taken off as the word of mouth has grown.

If you would like to see a portfolio of Ellen's work, please click on the website link above.

Our goal for this blog is to offer some insight into what we are up to, as well as useful "insider" information about the Emerald Isle area and wedding planning ideas.  Please feel free to sign up to be notified when there is a new post.

Tracey and Zack’s Wedding Reception Brunch at the Crystal Coast Civic Center

Tracey and Zack had a unique midday reception at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City, NC.  Rachel Munro of Bridal By the Sea helped them create a special brunch theme with mimosas and an amazing breakfast buffet by Floyd’s 1921 of Morehead City.

In the wedding brunch theme, the guests received favors of gourmet coffee beans beautifully packaged in little burlap sacks tied with a satin ribbon in the wedding theme color of navy blue.  Don’t you love the message attached?  Love is Brewing!

Tracey and Zack’s Wedding Ceremony at Glad Tidings Church

Tracey and Zack were married at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City, NC.

Zack had always loved Tracey’s hair short, but in the years preceding the wedding, she let it grow down to her shoulders.  As a special surprise before the wedding, she had her hair cut.  Zack didn’t know about it until she came down the aisle.

My favorite picture in this group is the wedding kiss.  You can see Zach’s son giggling as children often do at seeing adults kiss.  What a great expression!

Tracey and Zack’s Wedding Part 1: Getting Ready

There are so many wonderful moments from Tracey and Zack’s Morehead City, NC wedding, that I need to break them down into separate blog posts.  I would like to start by sharing some images of Tracey and Zack getting ready at the Sheraton in Atlantic Beach.  Tracey used makeup artist, Tamara Benjamin of Making Faces in Newport, who did a fantastic job.    The gorgeous silk satin stiletto bridal shoes were made by Giuseppe Zanotti and purchased through www.myglassslipper.com.  The bridesmaids dresses were made by J Crew.

While I was capturing Tracey’s moments with her bridesmaids, photographer Chalice Mills documented Zack with his groomsmen under the Sheraton’s pier.

Stay tuned for Tracey and Zack’s wedding ceremony and their reception with a twist!

Tracey - Ellen did a phenomenal job capturing every emotion that was experienced within a span of 8 hours. And I had no idea I would experience so many! Word of advice to any bride & groom planning their big day, Live in the Moment! Remember and cherish every second of that special day because the actual event only last for a short span of time, but the memories will last forever! My husband and I cannot stop praising Ellen and her gift of memories!

C. Hawkins - I had the privilege of serving as Tracey & Zack’s graphic designer. Thank you so much Ellen for making my work look so wonderful in these pictures.

Amber’s Bridal Portrait on the Beach of Emerald Isle

I couldn’t wait to share Amber’s bridal portrait with everyone, because I think she looks amazing.  We went to “the point” at the end of Coast Guard Road in Emerald Isle, NC.  Even though the sea oats have not greened up, I love the way the golden hues go with her hair–especially for someone named “Amber.”

We took these pictures only 2 weeks ago, but the portrait was ready in time for her wedding this past Saturday.  It was a wonderful event, and I will post images from that later.  I will be working on processing all the files this week, then editing and integrating them with my second shooter’s files next week.  Meanwhile, Amber and Patrick are enjoying their honeymoon in the Carribean.

Megan and Ben: Wedding Album from their Ocean Club Wedding

The ultimate goal for all wedding pictures is to be displayed as a story of your day.  While I love video slide shows to tell the story, there is nothing like a high-quality album to become a family heirloom.  As the final post about Megan and Ben’s Ocean Club wedding on the outer banks of North Carolina, I wanted to share their album with you.

Megan and I worked together to create a custom album, with her chosen images, displayed in her favorite style.  Megan wanted a contemporary design and a flush mounted album, in which the pictures are mounted directly to the album pages.  This allows 2-page-wide image spreads up to 24 inches wide.  She wanted to incorporate faded opacity images and also to include a mixture of black-and-white and color images.

The album design was created using software from “You Select It.”

Chalice Mills was the second shooter covering the event, and many of these images are ones she took.  Chalice also has her own website which can be viewed here.
